Consumer Guide

Background
That the World Wide Web has become the main source of health information to those with Internet access has been well-researched1, 2.

One could then make the assumption that there is a huge demand for online health resources, yet leading to an often valid concern by physicians on the quality of cybermedicine.

For various reasons health consumers are nevertheless actively involved in seeking health information and in using that information to make decisions about their health.

Therefore health consumers should approach Web sites that make health and medical information available differently from mainstream Web sites.

For the purposes of this e-Guide, the focus is to review mechanisms that would guide health consumers to reliable information on the Internet.
